Puerto Rico Chapter Harvesting and Planting

Puerto Rico Chapter Harvesting and Planting

Our Chapter went to the town of Anasco to help a school in their local garden. We helped transplant some vegetable plants they wanted to produce and helped harvest cilantro. This activity was a great learning experience for some of our new candidates, we were able to speak to some of the school teachers about agriculture and how they have been so successful with their garden.

The goal of this meeting was to help integrate the new members into the fraternity by building stronger bonds with brothers and meeting new brothers for the first time. All of the new members had a great time as they formed bonds with more brothers in the fraternity and became closer to everyone.

This was both a meaningful experience for the new members as well as the alumni.

The new members were definitely surprised! Everyone had so much fun and the new members are excited to continue their initiation semester into Alpha Zeta.

Just like every semester, we held our first installment ritual at the Rutgers Gardens, which is our current philanthropy project. In accordance with the traditions of Alpha Zeta, we welcomed the new members by exposing them to the entire chapter as well as our active Cook Alumni Association. After meeting the entire Cook Chapter Family, the new members were introduced to their big brothers, who would guide them through the pledging process and help them feel welcomed into our organization. At the end, we welcomed with open arms the Omega Class!

There was a great turnout of people with about 30 people there, despite the fact that it was late on a weeknight. Brothers who were able to drive were generous by carpooling everyone who wanted to go. Once there, everyone genuinely seemed to have a good time eating good food and meeting one another. Since there was so many of us, it was impossible to get everyone seated together but people made the extra effort to walk around and introduce themselves or sit at other tables for a bit. It proved to be a great night.

By creating different icebreaker games and mixing the new members into groups of brothers, we were able to give both the new members a chance to meet different brothers in order to learn more about what it means to be a part of the Fraternity of Alpha Zeta, while giving the brothers a chance to meet the prospective new members so that they could decide if they wanted to have a little. Overall, the prospective new members felt welcome and fun was had by both the brothers and the prospective new members.

It was a smaller, more intimate event where everyone could hang out and let the potential new members acquainted with the people who make up the chapter.
