On December 8th the brothers of the Cook Chapter came together for our annual Friendsgiving potluck. This post Thanksgiving tradition is a great way for brothers to catch up after the break and unwind before the start of finals. We had a potluck dinner held at one of the brother’s homes where we spent the evening talking, eating, and enjoying each other’s company. We truly consider our brotherhood a family, that's why we have our own special holiday to celebrate!

Fall Formal

On November 22, the Cook Chapter held our Fall Formal. Brothers got dressed up and spent the night eating and dancing at the Heldrich Hotel in downtown New Brunswick. The formal is always the wrap up to our semester, before finals begin. Additionally, all of our brother awards for the semester are given out at formal.

On November 21, the brothers of the Cook Chapter took a night off from studying to go see the premier of the new Hunger Games movie. Everyone had fun munching on popcorn while enjoying the movie. Afterwards we went out for late night ice cream. It was a great time for everyone.

On November 16th, 2013, 29 new members were initiated into the brotherhood of Alpha Zeta Cook Chapter. The Chi Class worked very hard for towards initiation day and they have finally made it to the end of their pledging process. Brothers and alumni came together to celebrate with the newly-pledged brothers.

On November 13th, a few members of the Cook AZ chapter visited Fulper Family Farmstead in Lambertville, NJ. The Fulper Farm is a family owned and operated dairy farm that still uses most of their original farm equipment. It’s a relatively small function, so we talked a lot about being able to keep up with larger commercial dairies. We learned about the difficulties of managing an animal operation where the farmer is not able to have much contact with the animals due to their lack of domestication. On October 25-27th, Rutgers University held their annual Homecoming weekend. One of the most exciting parts of the weekend is the football game. Tons of alumni and brothers of the Cook Chapter came together to celebrate Rutgers and have a great time. On October 24, Cook AZ took part in Rutgers 6th Annual Homecoming Charity Bed Races. This event is part of the homecoming week activities at Rutgers. Teams register by donating at least 300 diapers for children and families in need. Teams decorate a bed and then race them down College Avenue, one of the main streets on the Rutgers campus. On October 23, Cook AZ took part in a gleaning on Giamarese Farm in East Brunswick, NJ. Leading up to the event, we had a conversation about food as a right and each individual’s responsibility to help those in need. Once we got the farm, we spent several hours going through the field and harvesting sweet corn to donate through the NJ Agricultural Society’s Farmers Against Hunger.
