AZ Plays Videogames

As one of our recruitment events this semester, Cook Chapter decided to host a video game night on February 7th. Held at a campus center, multiple stations were set up with games like Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Mario Kart. Anyone was welcome to join in the festivities, and we had many potential members attend. Everyone had a blast, and we even started a (non video game) session of Apples to Apples, which got very loud...

First New Member Meeting and Applebees

Right after the first brother meeting of the semester, it is traditional for the new members to learn about the fraternity, watch a video, and make sure that they want to pledge. As a part of this, the brothers take them out to a local Applebees for half price appetizers. This is a chance for the new members to meet the brothers in an informal setting and really decide if pledging is right for them. The brothers also meet all the potential new members for the semester and see if they click with any in particular - so they can ask to be their "big brother" for the semester...

Ice Cream Social

Originally posted by Aubrey B. Weibel

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!!! Every child has sung that song and when we get older our love for ice cream does not go away. It is delicious regardless of the season and when enjoyed in good company, it is priceless. Ice Cream Social is one of our newer rush events and has proven to be quite a hit. Brothers bring toppings such as caramel and chocolate syrup, whipped cream, reese’s pieces, m & ms and other goodies to put on top of either the vanilla or chocolate ice cream provided and once again the brothers mix and mingle with any rushes that come out to the event.

Valentine's Day Cards

Valentine's Day Cards

Originally posted by Aubrey B. Weibel

In order to get ready for Valentine's Day, the brothers of AZ Cook chapter decided to make Valentine's cards for the pediatric ward of St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.  These themed cards varied in colors, designs and heart-warming messages.  The Brothers felt that by making these cards, they would be able to put a smile on a child's face.  The brothers really were able to showcase their creativity while designing the cards with stickers, stamps, markers and cut-outs.  Through card-making, the brothers were able to make children smile on Valentine’s Day.  This chapter has a lot of heart and definitely extended their kindness to children who know that the brothers of Alpha Zeta really care.

Rush events are always fun because they provide brothers an opportunity to speak with potential new members and explain why they personally love AZ. However, one event each Rush semester is needed to give more detailed information to these rushes so that they are aware of exactly what AZ is and what it represents. Everyone dresses business casual and the night begins with an information session held by the Censor and Sergeant...

S’mores. Who doesn’t like them? A soft, melted marshmallow with melted chocolate and graham crackers over a warm fire is pure bliss. That is why Alpha Zeta Cook Chapter always hosts a s’mores rush event. The event is held right outside of our unofficial home, the Cook Campus Center and brothers come to eat some delicious s’mores while interacting with potential new members about why Alpha Zeta is so amazing. This event is open to anyone who wishes to come by...

Cook Chapter Climbs the Rock Wall

Cook Chapter Climbs the Rock Wall

On February 10th, a group of brothers from the cook chapter decided that after 4-whole years at Rutgers, it was time to experience the Rutgers Rock Wall. Brothers learned how to properly tie a climbing knot and for many, it was their first time ever scaling a surface 180 degrees from the ground. It was a great bonding experience because two of the brothers in the group were belay certified and literally had the life line of another brother in her hand. Brothers had to trust one anther and listen for shouts of encouragements when times were tough. All of the brothers made it to the top of the wall at least once during the visit.

AZ Workouts

Come one! Come all!!! The Cook AZ brothers always support each other, and supporting each other in career goals and fitness goals is no exception. Our current chancellor, Becca Melvin, is an exercise science major who works at the Cook Recreation Center and taught one of her first RU Fit classes on Friday, February 1, 2013. This class is full of insanity based high intensity interval training 45 min work out consisting of jogging, burpees, squats, planks, and cardio work outs. Brothers came out to support her and participate in her class, which was quite a success. Getting into the spirit of things, they even made amazing gym attire. A chapter that works out together, stays strong together, and the pictures speak louder than words.

Cook Brothers Study Abroad - Farewell

Cook Brothers Study Abroad - Farewell

Originally posted by Aubrey B. Weibel

The brothers of Alpha Zeta Cook Chapter have always been curious individuals with a desire to experience new cultures and different environments. Two of our brothers have recently returned from Greece and Australia after completing a semester abroad, and brought back with them a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with the rest of the chapter. Now we bid farewell to another brother for the upcoming semester as she will be spending her semester in the Netherlands. Though saying goodbye is always difficult, it is not for forever and we wish her only the best in her travels and hope that she gets to experience all the history and culture the Netherlands have to offer. The picture above is a handful of the brothers that attended the farewell get together showing the true camaraderie of the brotherhood.

First Unofficial Meeting of the Semester

After a long break away, like this year's one month winter break, brothers are always excited to come back to school and get together to catch on the adventures of the break and the goals for the upcoming semester. On January 30, 2013 the Cook AZ brothers met up in the Cook Campus Center, our unofficial home, drank some root beer floats, enjoyed some '50s music and discussed the excited upcoming events the semester. Spring 2013 is going to be a wonderful semester, if the big little tackle hug in the picture below states anything.
