Job #CO-00324 Farm Technician - Summer Internship

DuPont Crop Protection is seeking a Farm Technician to work at its Newark, Delaware, research facility. The position is a temporary summer position.

The successful candidate will be responsible for mowing large blocks of land, cultivation of fields in preparation for planting of research studies, planting and cultivation of said studies. The Farm Technician may also be required to set up irrigation equipment and monitor it throughout the day while accomplishing multiple other tasks. The ability to initiate minor repairs of equipment or recognize the need for repair is highly desirable.

Minimum Skills Required: Familiarity with farm equipment, farm operations and the hazards involved in these operations. Agricultural knowledge. Ability to work outdoor in conditions. Ability to operate enclosed tractors for up to 8 hours per day. Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions. Demonstrated ability to document activities in written form. Demonstrated attitude that recognizes that personal safety and safety of the work group is paramount. Certified Pesticide Applicator's license is desirable, but not required.

Job #CO-00327 Biology Summer Intern (wildlife biology, animal ecology)

DuPont Crop Protection is seeking a summer intern to work at its Newark, Delaware, research facility in our ecological risk assessment team. The position is a temporary summer position.

The successful candidate will work with the ecological risk assessment team to develop bird and mammal ecological inputs database for use in European pesticide risk assessments. The intern will help to collect and evaluate population modeling software for DuPont Crop Protection to consider for future risk assessments.

Minimum Skills Required: Full time student attending an accredited college or university. Biology or related field of study with focus on wildlife biology or animal ecology. Completion of junior year. GPA of 3.0. Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions. Demonstrated ability to document activities in written form.

Job #CO-00328 - Biology Summer Intern (plant pathology, weed science, entomology)

DuPont Crop Protection is seeking several Biology interns to work at its Newark, Delaware, research facility. The position is a temporary summer position.

Responsibilities include: Watering of greenhouses and growth chambers and thinning of plant materials that will be used in various tests.

Weigh out and prepare materials that are components of our testing program. These materials may include such things as fertilizers used in our greenhouse programs, soils from around the regions in US.

Weigh out experimental chemical samples and prepare these for testing. Assist in setting up the spray machine for executing the test. Care for the test after treatment; setting the test out in the greenhouse based upon the desired experimental design, and maintain the test (inspect for insect and disease pests), note symptoms and record early observations.

Collection of data by acting initially as a recorder, then evaluate studies independently. Enter data into spreadsheets or other databases and providing printouts of that data to the primary investigator.

Summarize data using statistical programs and ultimately assist in preparing presentations including digital photography.

Field studies including laying out plots, field plots maintenance, Assistance on irrigation, weighing out chemical treatments, calibration of spray equipment, mixing materials in the field for application (actual application is done by licensed staff), assisting in identification of weed species and assisting in the evaluation of test plots.

Enter data into existing databases and produce test summaries.

Minimum Skills Required: Full time student attending an accredited college or university. Biology, Plant Pathology, Weed Science, Entomology or related field of study. GPA of 3.0. Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions. Demonstrated ability to document activities in written form.

Job #CO-00329 Molecular Biology Summer Intern

DuPont Crop Protection is seeking a summer intern to work at its Newark, Delaware, research facility. The position is a temporary summer position.

The successful candidate will have experience using all of the basic tools of molecular biology. Candidates familiar with different host cell production systems are desired.

Responsibilities will include cloning, engineering, and amplifying genetic material.

Minimum Skills Required: Full time student attending an accredited college or university. Completion of senior year (minimum) majoring in Molecular Biology or related field of study. GPA of 3.0. Knowledge of basic tools of molecular biology. Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions. Demonstrated ability to document activities in written form.

Job #CO-00330 Biochemistry Summer Intern

DuPont Crop Protection is seeking a summer intern to work at its Newark, Delaware, research facility. The position is a temporary summer position.

The successful candidate will be involved in protein production and isolation and assay development. We are seeking candidates with interest in protein biochemistry and previous laboratory experience. Familiarity with enzyme and protein-ligand kinetic analysis is desired.

Minimum Skills Required: Full time student attending an accredited college or university. Completion of senior year (minimum) majoring in Biochemistry or related field of study. GPA of 3.0. Knowledge of protein biochemistry. Experience working in a biochemistry laboratory. Knowledge of enzyme and protein-ligand kinetic analysis desired. Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions. Demonstrated ability to document activities in written form.
