AZ members in Penn State dairy science video

Originally posted by Shawn W. Beam

The Penn State dairy science club created a video informing potential new students what Penn State Agriculture is all about.  One of the facilitators in the video is the Morrill Chapter’s very own, Rebecca Shaw. You can see her in the opening scene standing on the left of our lion shrine. There are also many Alpha Zeta Alumni in the video and eleven of us yelling D-sci at the end...

AG Day at Penn State

AG Day at Penn State

On April 20th 2011, the Penn State college of Agricultural Sciences hosted Ag day on campus. This year's theme was Ag literacy. Our chapter along with other Ag clubs and Fraternities set up booths that related to this theme. Our booth was a comparison between Organic and Conventional farming. It displayed facts and myths about both farming practices and had edible samples of each. We then asked our visitors if they could "taste the difference”. The catch was we hid the answer of what each sample was. We received a variety of comments about our booth (and food samples) ranging from, "I didn't know organic farming used pesticides” to "I can taste the MSG in this apple”. All and all it was a successful day and a great way for Alpha Zeta to help educate those who don't know as much as they should about food supply...

Morrill Chapter Visits Cornell Chapter

Originally posted by Emmaline A. Long

This past weekend, 7 members of the Morrill Chapter at Penn State came to visit the Cornell Chapter. Through a fun night of fellowship, we got to know some of the members from the closest AZ Chapter to us. As the only two chapters of AZ that have a house and also consider themselves as "social" organizations within the Greek community on our campuses, we try to visit one another at least one time a semester, but missed out last fall. It's great for our chapters to discuss recruitment and new member education, among other things because our chapters are fairly similar. Members of the Cornell Chapter are going to visit the Morrill Chapter in a few weeks.
