The Florida Chapter had their last pledge meeting this past Tuesday November 4th. It was a bittersweet moment. Pledges finally finished their stressful 7 week process and were successful in fulfilling all of their requirements. It coincidentally was also Founder's Day, so we had a little celebration with cookies, chips, and subs. Each pledge had to complete 5 hours of service, social, and fundraising each. On November 2nd pledges went to the Ronald McDonald House to partake in the "Sweets N' Treats" program, where they made brownies and cookies for roughly 30 families. The pledge class completely supplied the ingredients for the event, each bringing in two items. Pledges set out to complete their next service event on Thursday, October 23rd, at the Alachua County Humane Society. From 4:00pm-6:00pm, pledges helped the humane society out by working in their thrift shop. On October 18th, 2014, the Pledge Class went to the Jungle Friends primate sanctuary for their third service event. Fully aware that they would have to wear close-toed shoes and keep hats and sunglasses away from the mischievous monkeys, pledges set out to do a number of odd jobs around the sanctuary. The Florida Chapter's Fall Pledge Class held their first service project, organized by their service chair Maya. A group of pledges headed out to our adopted road in Gainesville to clean up the trash on the road. They spent two hours of the afternoon on a beautiful day beautifying the community.   Before every pledge meeting, I like to plan a fun, but quick ice breaker. One ice breaker we did was the post-it note game. Each pledge received a post-it note and had to write the name of a famous celebrity, or fictional character and stick it to someone else's forehead.
