NC Professionalism Workshop

Originally posted by Ashley J. Kirby

On Wednesday, April 3rd, the North Carolina Chapter participated in a professionalism workshop. Agricultural and Extension Education professor, Dr. Barry Croom was invited by the Leadership Committee to come speak at 7:30.  The purpose of the workshop was to help brothers learn about professional ways to communicate with each other, especially when in leadership positions or working in groups. Dr. Croom began the meeting with a fun team building activity followed by a discussion of communication habits and skill.  This was a great time for the workshop because brothers are considering what officer positions they may like to run for in the next few weeks.

NC Officer Team-Building Session

Originally posted by Ashley J. Kirby

On Sunday January 13th, the advisors of the North Carolina Chapter hosted a team-building workshop for the officer team. All five officers participated from 3pm to 5pm in Garner, NC.  Activities included watching the miscommunication comedy "Who’s on First?” and individually drawing our dream houses to demonstrate how we are all unique. The advisors gave us opportunities to work together to complete other fun tasks and then led us in a discussion to prepare us for this semester.  We discussed how we have worked well together, what steps we could take to improve teamwork, as well as details for close events.  Our advisors provided chips and delicious sausage dip for us to enjoy.

Installation of the New Sargent at Arms

This semester, Cook Chapter welcomed a new Sargent at Arms onto our executive board. Danielle Clancy was elected at the end of last semester by the brotherhood to replace our graduating K.C. Murray. At the beginning of the first meeting, K.C. introduced Danielle and handed her the Sargent at Arms binder of Words of Wisdom, letters from previous Sargents explaining her duties, giving advice and offering a personal connection if she ever needs help. The ceremony was ended by a short speech by Danielle thanking K.C. for his dedication to the fraternity and for the excellent job he did last semester. With Cook Chapter's new E-Board installed, we are ready for a wonderful semester.
