Greetings from the Honorary Fraternity Alpha Zeta, Puerto Rico chapter. For us is a pleasure to begin a new semester in Alpha Zeta with enthusiasm and a lot of ideas to continue to expand our knowledge while enjoying every activity that we do for our agriculture. The photo is from our first activity. We performed this activity in September 13, 2012 in where we were selling sandwiches and juice to get funds for the fraternity...

Ag Day 9/21/12

Every semester the Cornell chapter puts on Ag Day to celebrate and promote the world of agriculture. Farm equipment and animals are brought to the Ag quad where students can see the animals and machinery up close and ask questions. Students love petting the calves, goats and lambs. Agricultural clubs and organizations are invited to set up a display or create an activity for students to learn more about agriculture. Actives Carly Neumann and Ross Taylor enthusiastically advertised for the event by wearing pig and cow costumes all day...

The Florida Chapter held a fundraiser at TCBY from 8-9 PM where we receive a certain percentage of the profits from the night. Members and pledges came out to meet up with each other and catch up on what has been going on and get to know each other more so that the pledges can make a smooth transition into the chapter once initiated. The fundraiser gave us an opportunity to offset some of the fees associated with our chapter. Of course, what better way to do this than while eating ice cream! Members and pledges chowed down on frozen yogurt and ice cream of all kinds while enjoying the company of members.

NC Boards on the Bricks Bake Sale

Originally posted by Ashley J. Kirby

To encourage fellow students to attend information sessions, we set up our boards on the brickyard September 11th, 12th and 13th. Brothers stood at the boards in between classes so that if a student had questions about Alpha Zeta they could answer them. Two to six brothers stood by the boards for each hour-long shift from 10am to 3pm. We had several students who were interested. This was a good time for the brotherhood to interact with other students and each other. This semester, we also included a bake sale fundraiser. Brothers graciously baked and donated cookies, brownies, and other goodies. Two or three items were wrapped or in Ziploc bags to sell for $1. We made about $30, which will go towards chapter activities or trips.

NC Relay for Life

Originally posted by Madeline N. Dabolt

On Friday and Saturday April 13th and 14th, 27 brothers attended NCSU’s Relay for Life in Lee Field. NC Alpha Zeta was selling baked goods and soda, we raised about $600 to donate to the American Cancer Society.  Everyone had the chance to walk around the track as long as they wanted to support everyone participating. There were people selling pizza, chicken wings, French fries, fried oreos, hot chocolate and several other great things. Several of the brothers decided to stay longer than their shift, some even all night. This was a great time for service, fundraising and fellowship for the Brotherhood.

Throughout Agriculture Awareness Week, the Brotherhood offered many events to involve students and faculty in the celebration of agriculture. We decided this year to set up on Sunday to make sure everything was good to go on Monday. The animals were settled in and the tables were set up so that the clubs throughout the College of Ag and Life Sciences could set up when they arrived on Monday morning. That afternoon we held Ag Olympics. A few faculty members volunteered to compete in the competitions we had including a piece of pie eating contest...

Mr. Alpha Zeta 3/2/2012

Originally posted by Emily R. Tompkins

This evening the dining room tables were not for eating—they were a catwalk. All but two men participated in The First Annual Mr. Alpha Zeta Contest. The competition consisted of three components: Q&A, Redneck Formal Wear, and a talent show. A panel of alumni judges asked the brothers questions such as "what can YOU do for the future of agriculture?” Next, brothers showed off their looks with "I Heart AZ” tattoos and hilarious costumes. Finally, featured talents were firebreathing, acoustic guitar, impressions, and more. It was a great time for actives and alumni to hang out, laugh, and have a great time. After an audience-wide vote, Pledge Brendan Sanok ‘15 was crowned with the title of Mr. Alpha Zeta for embodying the most enthusiasm, while active Gianni Parente ’14 was awarded first runner-up. The cover charge of this event helped fund member’s trip to NALC.

With all the smores fixings bought, the Florida Chapter was off to another successful woodser. Every semester we take a road trip to a local campsite in the middle of what seems to be nowhere for our Woodser. We reserved a campground at Kate's Fish Camp where the ranger came out and helped set up our bonfire to make delicious smores! Members gathered around the fire to share stories about their semester and to meet the newest pledges...
