Bright and early on Saturday April 1st a couple of brothers from the North Carolina Chapter participated in the largest service event in Raleigh, called Service Raleigh. Service Raleigh is an annual citywide day of service started in 1998 by NC State's Student Government and Park Scholars. Each year, volunteers from the university and surrounding community unite to undertake a variety of projects, each of which provides much needed assistance to local organizations. This year there were over 2,000 volunteers and over 30 organizations that participated. Brothers this year were placed in Site 20 where we helped Brown Bag Ministries to pack bag lunches and hand them out to those in need in downtown Raleigh. While handing out the lunches we had the wonderful opportunity to engage in conversation with the various people in need. It was an uplifting experience being able to help those in need and play a small part in such an important day in Raleigh.
