On February 20, 2010, the California Epsilon Chapter thought it would be a good opportunity to enjoy some winter outdoor fun at the Shaver Lake Recreation Area before the winter season ended. Member Activity Chair, Jason Ferreira, scheduled a day of fun for all interested individuals to join in the bonding experience with the Brother and Sisters of AZ Cal Epsilon. Most of the memebrs in attendence were the Fall 2009 Pledge Class. These individuals represent the future of Cal Epsilon and used this opportunity to bond and discuss ideas for future AZ events while still having a great time in the snow. Our chapter is growing rapidly due to the dedication and hard work from our officer team and new members. Cal Epsilon is finding new and interesting ways to bring members together and promote our chapters name. The event planning went smoothly with the date being scheduled months in advance, weather permitting of course. We ran into a bit of a snow storm but still had a great time enjoying the outdoor scenery. From this event, our chapter has tentatively developed a yearly tradition of heading to the central valley's winter wonderland every Spring semester for some well deserved outdoor fun and planning for the rest of the semester's activities. Here are some of the activities during our Snow Day:
The biggest snowman building contest Members and guests were divided into teams and given 30 minutes to build the biggest and best snowman. Members were welcome to bring tools and/or clothing items to decorate their snowman. The winner received a giftcard.
Team snow ball fight This activity gave members a chance to release that built up stress from the crazy beginning of the semester anxiety.
Brown sack lunch Just like when you were in elementary school, members packed their own lunches and AZ had a picnic. An ice chest was provided for those that had stuff that needed to be chilled.
Free for all fun Members broke away for some much needed fun to slide down the hills or go for a walk through some of natures most beautiful scenery.
