January 26th

Our first Rush event was a baked ziti dinner made by one of our brothers. The rushees enjoyed themselves as they ate and learned about Alpha Zeta. Five prospective members attended and while we finished our desserts we played a slide show for them that explained what AZ is all about. We then gave them information and instructions for the Roundtable interviews and entertained any questions that they had. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal that was serverd and the fellowship that was had! They were also invited to come back for our second and third Rush events!

Our second Rush event was a Potluck Dinner, provided by the brothers of our chapter. The rushees enjoyed themselves and enjoyed all the different food that was provided. Twelve people came out to our potluck dinner. During the meal, brothers talked to the rushees and explained to them some of the things that AZ stands for. During dessert we played a slide show for them that depicted all the activities that our chapter does throughout the year. We then gave them information and instructions for the Roundtable interviews and entertained any questions that they had. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal that was serverd and the fellowship that was had! They were also invited to come back for our final Rush event!

Rush events are crucial to recruiting new members. It is a chance for our chapter to grow and diversify. The last rush event of the semester was a chili and cornbread dinner prepared by one of the brothers in our chapter. We had 13 prospective members come out and join us for dinner. During dinner, the brothers got a chance to talk to all of the rushees to tell them what Alpha Zeta was all about. While enjoying dessert, we played a slide show for them that depicted all the activities that our chapter does throughout the year. We then gave them information and instructions for the Roundtable interviews and entertained any questions that they had. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal that was serverd and the fellowship that was had! This event concluded a very successful Rush!

January 31st

Roundtable interviews are held the Sunday after our Rush events at 12:30pm in our chapter meeting room. This interview is the next step in the North Carolina Chapter's recruitment process for new brothers. Everyone who attended Rush events, or students who contacted the Censor that couldn’t attend because of acceptable excuses, were invited to come to Roundtable on Sunday afternoon for an interview. The applicants proceeded to sign up for an interview time. One-by-one the students were interviewed in front of the entire brotherhood. They were first asked to talk about the pillar of AZ they find the most important. We then ask them questions to learn about their interests as well as why they want to join our Fraternity. After they leave, we discuss positive and negative aspects of each applicant and vote on their admission into the Fraternity. Eighty Five percent of the brotherhood must vote yes for them to be extended a bid. If we vote yes, the Censor will call them later in the day to extend a "bid." The Censor informs the new candidates about the time commitments required for New Member Education Week to make sure they still want to join. We had 12 applicants interview and all were extended a bid! Two applicants deferred their bid till next semester. We ended up with 10 candidates for New Member Education Week
