Initiation Ceremony

The initiation ritual is one of the few experiences all Alpha Zeta members from across the country share. It is a source of fellowship and education about the traditions, history and principles of the Fraternity. Its production is designed for impact and meaning. Here are a few tips and hints to maximize the impact of the intiation ceremony.

Guidelines for the Initiation Ceremony

  1. Submit membership applications and fees to the National Office 10 business days before the ceremony. This will insure your chapter receives AZ pins and membership certificates in time to distribute at the intiation.
  2. The ritual should be conducted according to the published version (edited 1974). Only the optional section may be skipped.
  3. The ritual is secret, only members and candidates may participate. Copies of the Ritual should be kept private.
  4. All active chapter members should attend the ceremony.

Production of the Ritual

Ritual (550K PPT)

Although some chapters have a lightbox to aid in describing the Alpha Zeta crest, this customizable PowerPoint allows chapters without a lightbox to explain the symbolism of the crest. A computer with Microsoft PowerPoint and an LCD projector are required.

Missing something?

Do you know the Alpha Zeta handshake? What about the password? If you have questions about the ceremony or your chapter is missing a ritual booklet, you may request new copies from the National Office, call (636) 449-5090 or e-mail: info@alphazeta.org.
