On Saturday November 12th, the Green Mountain Chapter at the University of Vermont in Burlington held its first ever pancake breakfast. Members worked tirelessly to make ends meet with the breakfast, and worked closely with the Dean's office of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences as well as with the Proctor Maple Research center, owned by UVM for supplies. All of the ingredients as well as "hard goods" were donated for the event, and pancakes, eggs, and beverages were prepared for many happy customers. The AZ'ers were also able to press out fresh cider using a chapter-owned press and donated UVM-grown apples. The event was set up as "donation only", and raised $200, which has been put towards agriculturally-focused relief efforts following the destruction left by tropical storm Irene in late August. We look forward to doing this again next year!
