Saturday, November 10, 2012, Alpha Zeta Cook Chapter held its bi-annual Alumni Event meant for New Members to get to know the members of our wonderful Alpha Zeta Cook Alumni Chapter. This event was held in the Fellowship Hall of  United Methodist Church of New Brunswick Church, a last minute change due to the problems that Hurricane Sandy caused, since all of the locations were closed. The chair of Alumni Committee was responsible for booking the venue, organizing the catering, and arranging for all of the brothers to make it to the event...

Helping a Brother in Need

Helping a Brother in Need

One of our Alpha Zeta alumni from Rutgers, Devon Craft, and her family were victims of Hurricane Sandy.  She reached out to the Cook Chapter of Alpha Zeta, here at Rutgers, for volunteers to assist her family in removing debris and cleaning up her home. They needed to dispose of belongings, mold, and throw out destroyed pieces of their house. We extended this need for help out to the brotherhood in hopes that some brothers would be able to volunteer their time over the weekend to help Devon and her family.

Responsible Drinking Happy Hour, Founders Day and Hurricane Sandy

Responsible Drinking Happy Hour, Founders Day and Hurricane Sandy

Cook chapter worked with our campus Deans and our own Alpha Zeta Alumni Association to Co-Sponsor Responsible Drinking Happy Hour on Friday November 2nd. The event was unfortunately postponed by Hurricane Sandy, and was rescheduled for the 9th. Cook chapter used this event to celebrate Founders Day, while promoting responsible drinking. Anyone over 21 who arrived received a wristband, and that wristband allowed them to buy exactly one alcoholic drink per hour, encouraging casual socialization without overuse. Free food and non-alcoholic beverages were also provided. Our chapter also sold shirts and buttons to raise money for those devastated by Hurricane Sandy. The event was a huge success and we were able to raise over $250 for Sandy Relief.
