Oklahoma State University's Chapter of Alpha Zeta

Oklahoma State University's Chapter of Alpha Zeta

Pre-Professional Night Business Meeting

On November 6th, 2014 our chapter invited 5 distinguished professionals in their fields to come and speak to our members about professional programs in the agriculture industry. It was a wonderful evening that inspired many of our members to pursue professional careers in the agriculture industry. Of the 5 speakers, 3 were Alpha Zeta alumni. Our speakers included a veterinary pathologist, agriculture lawyer and economist, meat scientist, distinguished cattle producer, animal nutritionist and environmentalist focused on research, and a crop scientist. It was an inspiring evening and we look forward to putting on this event again in the near future!

Cook Chapter Runs the Big Chill

On Saturday, December 10th, the Cook Chapter of Alpha Zeta participated in the Big Chill, an annual 5k run/walk that takes place at Rutgers. The entry fee for the race was a new, unopened toy. The Alpha Zeta team consisted of 44 members, both members of the fraternity as well as friends and family. Everyone on the team ran or walked the course wearing reindeer antlers, and the chapter advisor, Dr. Clark, walked the event dressed as Santa Claus. The event is one of the biggest charity races that takes place at Rutgers; last year over 8,000 toys were collected for donation. The Alpha Zeta team won an award for being the fraternity/sorority team with the most participants. The event was a great way for the chapter to bond and participate in a campus-wide event.

The Florida Chapter decided to get in touch with our roots again by heading back to agriculture. The Agronomy Department held its 1st Annual Agronomy Fall Festival out at the Agronomy Teaching Farm. Members came out to support one of our own and the mastermind behind the festival, Blaire Colvin. Students came out on a beautiful November afternoon for food, fun, and games. The festival gave students at the university an opportunity to take a look into the agronomy program and meet with the faculty, staff, and students that make agronomy great!...
