Throughout Agriculture Awareness Week, the Brotherhood offered many events to involve students and faculty in the celebration of agriculture. We decided this year to set up on Sunday to make sure everything was good to go on Monday. The animals were settled in and the tables were set up so that the clubs throughout the College of Ag and Life Sciences could set up when they arrived on Monday morning. NC Service with 4H students

On Sunday March 11th, 7 brothers went and helped at the Wake County 4H Workshop. The brothers got to speak with Middle School students about agriculture. A lot of the students were in the Horse club, but there were other students who were in the different clubs that are offered in Wake County. They played an Ag Trivia game where they had to answer various questions about agriculture. The students also got to ask the brothers questions about college and what it was all about so they would know the process to applying and what kind of majors they would be able to choose. Brother Kirby talked to them about the Pre-Vet program at NCSU.

Cornell Chapter Volunteers at Food Bank 2/17/2012

Five members from Alpha Zeta Cornell re-visited Food Bank of the Southern Tier in Elmira, NY at which they volunteered last semester. They took a tour of the new facility that is being used to store and redistribute food across southern NY, particularly areas recovering from hurricane damage from the fall. Actives helped pack bags for the food bank’s Backpack Program which gives food that can be easily packed into school lunches to families in need.

The Florida Chapter cleaned up our adopted road for the first time this spring. The members that participated in the clean up did not mind taking time out of their schedule on a Thursday evening to put the trash back where it belongs and off the street. Project makeover is a huge service project put on by students out of the University of Florida and founded by a UF student in 2008. The project was held at Chester Shell Elementary this year. The organization raised over $9,000 and used over 1,055 volunteers from UF students to community volunteers helping prune bushes, paint interactive murals, and overall beautify the school over a weekend...

Every semester we take a road trip to a local campsite in the middle of what seems to be nowhere for our Woodser. Members of the Florida Chapter took their lunch break to go join up with other organizations and sororities to help out at the local Ronald McDonald House in Gainesville. While at the house members help remove and replace box springs and mattresses in the house. The Ronald McDonald House provides temporary housing, basic amenities and support to families with critically ill children seeking treatment at area medical facilities. The program helps to stabilize situations for families and allow them to concentrate all of their time and energy on the treatment and recovery of their children. By just changing out their beds to something newer and more comfortable we may have just made their day a tad better!...
