April 12th and 13th, North Carolina State University hosted their annual Relay For Life on Greek Field.  The service committee notified the chapter of the event date at the beginning of the semester. Brothers registered online and paid signed up for two-hour shifts between 6pm on Friday and 6am on Saturday. Each brother raised at least $10 to participate. Seventeen brothers walked around the track in hopes to raise money for cancer research...

The North Carolina Chapter is proud to be a member of the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences’ Agri-Life Council. The council is made up of representatives from clubs throughout the college and meets every other week. Three brothers attend regular meetings to discuss news, events or issues in the college. Every year, the Student Organization Resource Center hosts a Housing Fair on campus. Housing companies bring information and free giveaways for students. SORC invited the North Carolina Chapter to participate as student ambassadors for the fair on Wednesday April 3rd.  Eight brothers worked two-hour shifts between 8am and 3pm.  The chapter will receive a $400 minimum stipend for assisting with the event...

Brothers and potential new members of the Rutgers Cook Chapter assisted deans and Rutgers CORPs in working the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences open house on March 9, 2013.  Brothers assisted tour guides in their tours of the campus, answered potential and admitted students questions, and  helped deans and professors run their academic informational sessions.  There were over 1000 people in attendance and through the brothers' participation, everything ran smoothly.  Their volunteering was pivotal in making the open house a huge success.

In mid-March, Rutgers University hosted its 21st annual Special Friends Day, a day when Rutgers students have the opportunity to bond and hang out with special needs children during fun filled activities hosted by various student groups on campus. A DJ plays music the whole day, the pool is open for all to enjoy (with lifeguards present), and there are arts and crafts activities galore. This year's theme was "Ancient Civilizations" and so AZ brothers set up an arts and crafts table at which they helped children decorate paper pyramids to celebrate the rich Mayan Culture...

During Agriculture Awareness Week we hold a forum regarding the issues in agriculture to help educate the brotherhood, as well as the public.  We advertise this forum throughout the week through social media and word of mouth.  This year the forum was held on Wednesday at 5:30pm. Three brothers went to the Dairy Educational Unit to wash the cows before the contest.  NC Commissioner of Agriculture, Steve Troxler was out of town this year but Assistant Commissioner Joe Reardon came to participate against Elizabeth Gardner, meteorologist for WRAL.  The contest area was lined with cones for the arrival of the cows and the contestants were given an opportunity to practice milking. At 6:00am on March 18th, officers and brothers cooked pancakes, sausages and eggs for our annual alumni breakfast. Many faculty and staff are alumni of Alpha Zeta and were invited to the breakfast at 7:15am.
