This service project was planned by our service chair, Kaitlyn Summerfield. The UF AZ chapter benefited by coming together in order to make the lives of others better. The 10 members that participated made holiday cards that will be delivered to Royal Oak Nursing Home in Titusville, FL.

D'Lites is a local ice cream/frozen yogurt shop. We were given part of the proceeds from any sales within a certain time frame. Our fundraising chair, Gernide Zamor, planned this event. The UF AZ chapter benefited by earning more funds to help in our endeavors.

For 12-02-10, this service project was planned in order to collect items for care packages and pack the boxes that we have sent to soldiers over seas. Our service chair, Kaitlyn Summerfield, planned this event. Planning included setting a convenient time and place to meet, setting requirements for what could be donated as far as gifts and money to help ship the boxes, and then being in charge of actually shipping the boxes. Our chapter benefited by being a part of supporting our troops and seeing how our efforts directly impact their lives...

Florida Fall '10 pledge Hygiene Supply Drive Service 11-29-10

Members of the 2010 Fall Pledge Class decided to contribute items to a campus-wide collection of shampoo, deodorant, body wash, and other personal bath products that were to be given to a shelter in the Gainesville community that serves abused and homeless women. In completing this service event, members of the pledge class were able to help those women who are hurt and in need, while at the same time getting to know one another and other members of other organizations across campus. This counted as a service event for the pledges and could be one of their two required service points for the semester.

Florida Fall '10 pledge Nature Walk Social 11-27-10

This nature walk was one of the socials planned by the pledge social committee that would count toward the pledge's two required socials. Members of the Fall 2010 Pledge Class met up and drove out to Paine's Praire where they went for a nature walk and enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife (birds, buffalo, etc.). This activity served as a nice way for the pledges to enjoy the afternoon while bonding with one another and getting to know their future fraternity brothers.

On October 23, 27 brothers and 8 pledges made their way to Rutgers Gardens to help clean up and beautify the area. First we planted buckeye trees along the road entering into Rutgers Gardens. One all the trees were planted, we split up into two groups. The first group went to the Bamboo Forest to cut down dead pieces of bamboo and to re-mulch the path. The second group walked around the rest of the gardens picking up garbage. The entire project was planned by Pledge Committee.

Florida Fall '10 pledge A. Quinn Jones Food Drive Service 11-12 - 17-10

This project was put on by other groups at the University of Florida who asked other clubs and fraternities to help contribute cans and nonperishable items for the underserved Gainesville population. Some members of the Fall 2010 pledge class contributed to this cause by donating at least 5 cans or other food items in order to receive a service point that would count as one of their two required service events for their pledging semester. This was a rewarding project to participate in for pledge class members got to interact with each other as well as other students and members of other organizations on campus, all the while helping our local community.

On September 22, 30 brothers and 10 potential pledges carpooled their way to Applebees to enjoy half priced appetizers and good company. Everyone enjoyed good conversation while being well fed.
