A. D. White Leadership Conference

Originally posted by Rheanna I. Foley

On February 15, the executive officers of our chapter attended the A. D. White Leadership Conference. The conference consisted of a keynote speaker who discussed the identities of the true leaders of an organization as well as what makes the best leader. The overall goal of his talk was how we, as leaders, sometimes have restrictions, which may include tradition, habit, or conflict, that prevent the accomplishment of our goals...

Cornell Faculty Dinner

Originally posted by Rheanna I. Foley

This semester we had an excellent turnout at our annual Faculty Dinner. This year we tried something a little different than our normal dinner at the chapter’s house. With the support of the Corporation Board, we were able to pay for a caterer and host the event on campus at the Physical Sciences Building. In the Baker Portico, thirty actives and twenty-five faculty members and local alumni joined together to enjoy conversation and dinner from Kendra’s Catering...

Cornell Chapter attends Young Farmers and Ranchers Conference

Originally posted by Sara K. Orlowski

On February 22-23, four Alpha Zeta members attended the 2013 Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Conference.  The main focus of the conference was to get young farmers and ranchers active in Farm Bureau.  Young farmers and ranchers do not necessarily need to hold a position to contribute to the organization but voicing an opinion about various agricultural issues is very helpful.  Farm Bureau wants young farmers to join and be active in the field of agriculture because it allows for the concerns and issues to be heard by local representatives who can then lobby for farmers in Albany...

Winter Ice Skating-Cornell Chapter

Winter Ice Skating-Cornell Chapter

Originally posted by Sara K. Orlowski

After enduring a week of bitterly cold temperatures to and from class, what better way to enjoy the first weekend after the beginning of classes than to clear the snow off a local pond and go ice skating and play some impromptu hockey? On the last Saturday of January, the last day of prolonged single digit temperatures, a group of members scouted out a local pond rumored to be a good place for skating. After overcoming the challenge posed by finding a pond covered in snow on the edge of the field, they cleared it off as much they could before giving in to the temptation of skating, brought out the hockey sticks and a puck and began a game. Exhausted and cold, they made their way home for warm mugs of hot chocolate. This activity was a great way to build brotherhood among the members of the fraternity.

It’s the first week of the semester and the second week of rush and everyone at the Cornell Chapter knows what that means…BROOMBALL! Over the years, broomball, which for those of you who don’t know is sort of like hockey without skates, has become a tradition for the house and a way to recruit new members. Who doesn’t enjoy sliding around on ice, in the middle of winter, especially in upstate NY!
