Faculty Happy Hour 3/2/2012

Originally posted by Emily R. Tompkins

March 2nd was an exciting day for Alpha Zeta Cornell. We had 7 faculty and 4 alumni in attendance of our first ever Faculty and Alumni Happy Hour. It was so enjoyable that we plan to host another one later this semester. Although it officially lasted for an hour, people stayed later, taking advantage of the opportunity to network with alumni and faculty over snacks and beverages. Some alumni stayed to watch the Mr. Alpha Zeta Competition later that evening.

Mr. Alpha Zeta 3/2/2012

Originally posted by Emily R. Tompkins

This evening the dining room tables were not for eating—they were a catwalk. All but two men participated in The First Annual Mr. Alpha Zeta Contest. The competition consisted of three components: Q&A, Redneck Formal Wear, and a talent show. A panel of alumni judges asked the brothers questions such as "what can YOU do for the future of agriculture?” Next, brothers showed off their looks with "I Heart AZ” tattoos and hilarious costumes. Finally, featured talents were firebreathing, acoustic guitar, impressions, and more. It was a great time for actives and alumni to hang out, laugh, and have a great time. After an audience-wide vote, Pledge Brendan Sanok ‘15 was crowned with the title of Mr. Alpha Zeta for embodying the most enthusiasm, while active Gianni Parente ’14 was awarded first runner-up. The cover charge of this event helped fund member’s trip to NALC.

Local alumni were also invited to attend upcoming events such as the CALS Charitable Trust dinner, Faculty and Alumni Happy Hour, and the Mr. Alpha Zeta Competition. Members and alumni often extended their conversations into casual discussions about the house and exchanged favorite memories of their time as an active...

UF Pledge Class Red Mango Fundraiser 3/20/12

UF Pledge Class Red Mango Fundraiser 3/20/12

The Florida Chapter's spring pledge class held a fundraiser at Red Mango from 8-11 PM where we receive a certain percentage of the profits from the night. Members and pledges came out after the pledge meeting to meet up with each other and get to know each other more so that the pledges can make a good transition into the chapter. The fundraiser gave the pledge class an opportunity to offset some of the fees associated with pledging. Of course, what better way to do this than while eating frozen yogurt! Members and pledges chowed down on frozen yogurt of all kinds with fruit toppings and chocolate while enjoying the company of each other.

UF Woodser Social 2/24/12

With all the smores fixings bought, the Florida Chapter was off to another successful woodser. Every semester we take a road trip to a local campsite in the middle of what seems to be nowhere for our Woodser. We reserved a campground at Kate's Fish Camp where the ranger came out and helped set up our bonfire to make delicious smores! Members gathered around the fire to share stories about their semester and to meet the newest pledges...

There the brothers ran the now annual event of "Guess Dr. Clark's Beard Length." Also there the Cook Community Alumni Association was present to try and get the student to interact and meet with them. This was a fun event and many potential new members were there.

Ice Skating Indoors!

Ice Skating Indoors!

Originally posted by Aubrey B. Weibel

On January 26th, a few of the Cook Chapter brothers got together with younger alumni to go ice skating... in the Campus Center. Everyone strapped on figure skates and stepped onto heavily waxed linoleum, trying not to fall down. Not everyone was allowed on the rink at once, and that was a good idea, since the fake ice took some time getting used to and crashing was not uncommon. All in all, it was a great fun and an informal way for the current brothers and recent graduates to spend time together.
