It included many hands-on activities, music, and food.

This past Saturday, 9/17 was Cornell's homecoming game against Bucknell University. Before the game, we tailgated with other Greek organizations and then headed to the game. Many alumni who attended the lunch, National initiation, and alumni meeting earlier in the day came to tailgate with us. This was the first time the Homecoming game was in the evening and it was great to see all the school spirit! Cornell won 24-13 which added to the excitement of the day!

Friday Night Potluck at the Cornell Chapter

Friday Night Potluck at the Cornell Chapter

Originally posted by Emmaline A. Long

Because our chef does not cook for our house on Fridays, active Chelsea VanAcker '14 organized a potluck dinner on 9/16. Almost all members were present and brought delicious dishes including a Mexican pie, southwest salad, jello salad, and pesto soup. There were also several alumni present. Overall, everyone had a great time and we are planning on doing an event like this one (possibly international themed!) soon.

Cornell's New Members Go Hiking

Originally posted by Emmaline A. Long

The Cornell Chapter decided to add a new event to our eight week new member education process this semester: an overnight hiking and camping trip. The Pledge Master and Pledge Educator (our two positions in charge of the new member education process), along with one other active, took the seven pledges on an overnight hike from 9/10 to 9/11. They hiked in about a mile and a half, spent the night at a scenic overlook, and then hiked several more miles the following day...

Cornell Chapter's Fall Rush

Cornell Chapter's Fall Rush

Originally posted by Emmaline A. Long

The Cornell Chapter holds a formal recruitment in both the fall and spring semesters. Our fall Rush is two weeks long and we are just finishing up our second week. All actives are required to participate in at least some part of rush and several alumni have been present for events as well. Events have consisted of an open dinner at our house every night and fun activities in the evening including go-karting, bowling, a bbq, a "lawn flick" (drive-in style!), laser tag, and several other events throughout the two weeks. We have been very happy with the number of potential members that have visited the house and look forward to bid acceptance next week!

Cornell Chapter's Summer Weekend

Originally posted by Emmaline A. Long

Cornell Chapter members (and one NC State alumni!) convened upon Granby, CT for the weekend of July 8-10 for the annual AZ Summer Weekend. Carly Neumann (Chancellor) and her family graciously hosted a group of actives, alumni, and friends from other chapters that peaked at 24 people. We went tubing down a river and through rapids, ate ice-cream at a local dairy bar and creamery, took a tour of a mixed-dairy farm, shared stories around a bonfire, and much more. Each summer, a different active hosts the event and we look forward to doing it again next year!
