Dennis L. Cannon is the executive director of the Fraternity of Alpha Zeta and the Alpha Zeta Foundation.  In addition to his work with Alpha Zeta, Mr. Cannon has more than 20 years of experience as an association management executive and a rural electric utility CEO.

Mr. Cannon was inducted into the Fraternity's Scovell Chapter at the University of Kentucky in December of 1990.  As a college junior, he served as the Chapter’s scribe; as a senior, he served as the Chapter’s chancellor.  He was awarded the Chapter’s leadership award as a graduating senior in 1993.  He was awarded the Alpha Zeta Foundation's prestigious Burkett-Cunningham-Dennis scholarship in 1992.  He participated in Alpha Zeta’s 1993 LEAD Conference in Snowbird, Utah

Mr. Cannon grew up on a farm in western Kentucky.  As a youth, he was active in 4-H on the local, state, and national levels.  He served two terms as president of Kentucky 4-H during his college years.  He was awarded the Kentucky 4-H Lifetime Achievement Award and inducted into the Kentucky 4-H Hall of Fame in 2010.  He serves on the board of directors of the Kentucky 4-H Foundation.

Mr. Cannon holds bachelor's and master's degrees in agriculture from the University of Kentucky. He was named the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture’s 1998 Outstanding Young Alumnus by the college’s alumni association.  He served on the board of directors of the Kentucky Center for Agriculture and Rural Development for 18 years and served as its chairman for four years.  In 2000, he was awarded an honorary degree by the Kentucky Young Farmer Association.  He is a lifetime member of both the Louisville Agricultural Club and the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment Alumni Association.  He owns a farm in western Kentucky.
