On September 10 we had a Hot Dog fundraiser in our Agricultural Sciences building from 8:30am to 2:00pm. All the materials for the sale were donated by our members and with the money we made we will fund future fundraisers. The sale was a success we had 11 members help during the whole sale to work between classes and we made a total of $195.30.

The University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez Chapter had a new officers welcoming dinner on September 7 at Chilli's. Last years officers told anecdotes about their experiences as officers and made many recommendations as to what we can do differently this year. Dr. Lizette Gonzales Gill and Dr. Angel A. Custodio with his wife came to  the dinner, they have always been of great help to us and we can always count on them for any support and guidance we need. In October 9, 2013 Puerto Rico chapter did a sandwich, hot dog, and coffee sale until moon for fundraising. We also had in the menu different types of juices and soda. We sold them separately or in a combo. Our objectives of doing sales are for fundraising and to create curiosity of what is Alpha Zeta.

Last September 5, 2013 the Alpha Zeta Chapter of Puerto Rico had a dinner at Romano's Macaroni and Grill in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. In this dinner the old directive of 2012 with Yehokhanan Lugo as the chancellor, Axel Ambertas the sensor and Rafael Sierra as the historian, gave the welcome to the new directive 2013 members which consists of Magdiel Miranda as the chancellor, Charluz Arocho as the sensor, Kriza Martínez as the secretary, Roxanna González as the treasurer and the new four historians Rosiel Grajales, Bryan de la Torre, Mónica Galván and Natalie Vázquez...

The Puerto Rico Chapter is very active in helping and organizing activities. This time we were still guides some exchange students from countries such as Germany, Mexico and Dominican Republic. These students knew little of Puerto Rico and our duty was to visit places of interest and learn a little about the culture of Puerto Rico. Tourists visited some farms that propagate fruit trees and ornamental plants...

The fraternal sharing as one of the most enjoyable activities and this time the Puerto Rico Chapter met for a kayak night. The activity of kayaking is one of the most extreme sports and more memorable. But when kayak at night and in a bay with bio-luminescence is a great activity. In the bay could be seen as organisms called "dinoflagellates" create their own light in the sea...

Our fraternity Alpha Zeta Chapter of Puerto Rico has focused on being leaders and unites the entire College of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez Campus. Was demonstrated with the basketball tournament between the faculty departments that occurred March enclosure at the Coliseum. They joined 10 teams from different departments: animal science, pre-veterinary, agricultural economics, agronomy, agricultural education and of course the team of Alpha Zeta. In the tournament organized by the Puerto Rico Chapter is achieving promote healthy competition, camaraderie and fun...

Alpha Zeta, Puerto Rico chapter, participated in an agricultural fair, which took place from March 11 through March 16 of 2013. This activity is performed once a year, named "Cinco Días con Nuestra Tierra” (Five Days with Our Land). The activity consists of a tribute to agriculture where different producers come to the university to sell artisanal, agricultural, and culinary products. Meanwhile the general public enjoys a family atmosphere with live music and educational talks...

Our Alpha Zeta members continue emphasizing the agriculture, and this time the chapter participated collecting coffee in Utuado, Puerto Rico. The chapter took part in one of the different steps of coffee processing in order for it to arrive at the market. As a chapter we participated in the first step in the coffee industry, collecting the grains. The journey was a total success, as we collected approximately 500 pounds of coffee grains...
