AZ’s very own Senior Ag Day Chair Marlie Lukach, and Junior Ag Day Chair Sammy Merrill, pulled off a very successful Ag Day this October.  Ag Day, our biennial outreach event, serves as a vehicle for our chapter to teach the community about and share our passion: agriculture.  Held on the Cornell College of Agriculture and Life Sciences quad, it is a great location for food, animals, plants, games, and educational opportunities for people of all types and ages.  Students, professors, and families alike all come to enjoy a day of agriculture, something not many people have had the chance to experience in their lifetimes.
We considered this year’s Ag Day a wild success.  We totaled several hundreds of dollars in proceeds, 100% of which were donated to the Tompkins County 4-H program, from our food tent.  In addition, we were able to interact with hundreds of visitors and share with them our passion.  It was also a wonderful opportunity to publicize Alpha Zeta to both the community and potential new members as a recruitment tool.  We hope future Alpha Zetans continue this house event that brings our members together and helps us educate our community in an industry that is becoming increasingly important.
