For 12-02-10, this service project was planned in order to collect items for care packages and pack the boxes that we have sent to soldiers over seas. Our service chair, Kaitlyn Summerfield, planned this event. Planning included setting a convenient time and place to meet, setting requirements for what could be donated as far as gifts and money to help ship the boxes, and then being in charge of actually shipping the boxes. Our chapter benefited by being a part of supporting our troops and seeing how our efforts directly impact their lives...

To celebrate the end of the semester, several brothers gathered for fun and fellowship on December 3rd.  We also invited our alumni as well.  The social was held at Kabuki Japanese steakhouse in Cary, North Carolina.  We all had fun dressing up and joining for a time of fellowship.  Many of us enjoyed the hibachi chicken or steak which was delicious!  We all had a great time and it was a great way to relax before the beginning of final exams.

End of the Semester Candlelight

Originally posted by Lauren K. Mabry

After our regularly scheduled business meeting we held a candlelight ceremony in honor of our December graduates.  We all sat in a circle passing a candle around sharing our favorite memories of AZ, what Alpha Zeta has meant to us, and wishing those graduating the best of luck.  We ended with the graduating seniors telling their favorite memories and giving us advice as we finish our college careers.  It always an emotional and meaning full ceremony.

Members of the 2010 Fall Pledge Class decided to contribute items to a campus-wide collection of shampoo, deodorant, body wash, and other personal bath products that were to be given to a shelter in the Gainesville community that serves abused and homeless women. In completing this service event, members of the pledge class were able to help those women who are hurt and in need, while at the same time getting to know one another and other members of other organizations across campus. This counted as a service event for the pledges and could be one of their two required service points for the semester.

Members of the Fall 2010 Pledge Class met up and drove out to Paine's Praire where they went for a nature walk and enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife (birds, buffalo, etc.). This activity served as a nice way for the pledges to enjoy the afternoon while bonding with one another and getting to know their future fraternity brothers.
