To encourage fellow students to attend information sessions, we set up our boards on the brickyard January 29^th, 30^th and 31^st. Brothers stood at the boards in between classes so that if a student had questions about Alpha Zeta they could answer them. Two to six brothers stood by the boards for each ninety-minute shift from 9:30am to 3pm.

On January 31^st, ten brothers met around 8:30 at Western Lanes across from campus to enjoy a night of bowling. Each brother had a great time and made many memories. At this bowling alley, each person has to record their own scores which makes it much more interesting.

The North Carolina Chapter loves fellowship and food. Before the meeting on Wednesday January 23^rd, thirty brothers shared a wonderful meal including deviled eggs, pigs-in-a-blanket, fried chicken, green beans, cup cakes and other delicious dishes.  Everyone was responsible for bringing a dish. We enjoyed catching up with each other about winter break activities...

It’s the first week of the semester and the second week of rush and everyone at the Cornell Chapter knows what that means…BROOMBALL! Over the years, broomball, which for those of you who don’t know is sort of like hockey without skates, has become a tradition for the house and a way to recruit new members. Who doesn’t enjoy sliding around on ice, in the middle of winter, especially in upstate NY!

The effort, dedication, responsibility and hard work become part of the merits and characteristics that describe an honor student. The Faculty of Agriculture in the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez Campus wanted to reward the honors of their students. The faculty organized an activity in where the honor students of all departments were presented to celebrate this important goal and to receive a certificate for the good academic performance during the academic year 2011-2012...

Alpha zeta has always been transmitting agriculture knowledge and teaching in the practice how to work with our lands. This important task is not only for the benefit of our students, it’s also a tool for our community that is always disposed to learn participating of our activities. This time Alpha Zeta was helping an organization called ENACTUS to prepare a vegetable garden in an Elementary School called Felipe Odiott in Añasco Puerto Rico. ENACTUS has different projects that have social, economic and environmental impact as its purpose that affect us today...

On January 10^th 2013, three members of the Cornell Chapter of Alpha Zeta attended the New York State Agricultural Society meeting held in Syracuse, NY. The day was filled with many networking opportunities, inspirational speakers and local food that was donated to the Ag Society.

This January, Alpha Zeta members John Zeiger, Lyndsie Collis and Elizabeth Martens toured around the northeast visiting Alpha Zetans and seeing the sights. We began the trip on New Years Eve hosted by Becca Terry at her home in Honeoye Falls. Sara Orlowski joined us for a night of fun and games to bring in the New Year...

On Sunday January 13^th, the advisors of the North Carolina Chapter hosted a team-building workshop for the officer team. All five officers participated from 3pm to 5pm in Garner, NC.  Activities included watching the miscommunication comedy "Who’s on First?” and individually drawing our dream houses to demonstrate how we are all unique. The advisors gave us opportunities to work together to complete other fun tasks and then led us in a discussion to prepare us for this semester.  We discussed how we have worked well together, what steps we could take to improve teamwork, as well as details for close events.  Our advisors provided chips and delicious sausage dip for us to enjoy.

Diversity Dinner is put on to supply dinner for the chapter as well as learn a little about a culture.  This semester we had a cajun theme that took place on November 27, 2012.  We learned a history about the cajun people, some traditions, as well as some about the food we ate.  The food was authentic cajun made by a local chef.  The Diversity Task Force Committee was responsible for arranging this event: coordinating with the chef, arranging the event, and producing a short presentation.  The chapter participates because this is a fun way to explore different cultures while enjoying new foods.
