NC Boards on the Bricks Bake Sale

Originally posted by Ashley J. Kirby

To encourage fellow students to attend information sessions, we set up our boards on the brickyard September 11th, 12th and 13th. Brothers stood at the boards in between classes so that if a student had questions about Alpha Zeta they could answer them. Two to six brothers stood by the boards for each hour-long shift from 10am to 3pm. We had several students who were interested. This was a good time for the brotherhood to interact with other students and each other. This semester, we also included a bake sale fundraiser. Brothers graciously baked and donated cookies, brownies, and other goodies. Two or three items were wrapped or in Ziploc bags to sell for $1. We made about $30, which will go towards chapter activities or trips.

Involvement Fair at Rutgers

On Friday September 7th, the brothers of Alpha Zeta gathered on the College Avenue campus during the fall semester’s Involvement Fair. There was a table set with banners and signs promoting the service, leadership, and goals of the fraternity. Brothers talked one-on-one and in small personal groups with their peers; among them hopefully a few prospective new members. The event attracted at least 5,000 people, featuring 300 student organizations, 55 fraternities and sororities, and numerous departments. The weather was beautiful and we certainly made some great new friends.

Eta First Meeting

Originally posted by Katherine C. Kykier

For the first meeting of the semester the Eta chapter started with a balloon mixer to get know the new members. The main business of the meeting was a brainstorming workshop to set goals for the year     and share ideas.  First, we discussed the pros and cons of last year and then set goals. We then had idea sheets for Service Projects, Fundraisers, Initiation, and a theme for the year.  We also made sure that all of the members which attended were registered on the National Website and could access it.  Now, our officer team will consider the ideas from the members and schedule all the events for the year before our next meeting.

On Saturday September 8th, six brothers met to pick up trash around a stream that runs through NCSU’s campus. This is a project that the North Carolina Chapter usually participates in once a semester to aid university maintenance. Our service coordinator organized the project and supplied the group with gloves and trash bags. At 10am, brothers cleaned up an area that many joggers and bikers frequent for about an hour. It was a great morning to be outside. Brothers enjoyed spending time together while beautifying our campus.
