UF Coldstone Creamery Fundraiser 9/15/11

UF Coldstone Creamery Fundraiser 9/15/11

This fundraiser at Coldstone Creamery was a chance for members to come out and meet up with each other outside of lectures and relax. Members were allowed to invite the customers into the store and share a little about Alpha Zeta while they waited on their icecream. A lucky few got to work the line mixing icecream for customers and serenade them for tips! Some of the lyrics went like "Scooby Dooby Doo.. We scoop for you.. We hope you like your icecream.. Money in the jar gives us gas for our car.. So we'd really like to thank you!" We received a portion of the sales made during our shift from 5-8 p.m. A lot of members had a blast helping out and raising money for the chapter.

Every year, Cook/Douglass at Rutgers University hosts a Community Day geared towards getting both old and new students to join organizations affiliated with their major or interests.  Alpha Zeta is well known on our campus and we're always encouraging people to pledge.  At Community Day, we handed out flyers about AZ and a list of upcoming rush events.  We wish the best of luck to all chapters in getting wonderful members this year!

Cornell's New Members Go Hiking

The Cornell Chapter decided to add a new event to our eight week new member education process this semester: an overnight hiking and camping trip. The Pledge Master and Pledge Educator (our two positions in charge of the new member education process), along with one other active, took the seven pledges on an overnight hike from 9/10 to 9/11. They hiked in about a mile and a half, spent the night at a scenic overlook, and then hiked several more miles the following day...

At UF, football seems to be everyone's favorite past time. Saturdays are meant for tailgating and cheering on your favorite team. Members of the Florida Chapter met up on Wednesday to pick up tickets together for the game against the University of Alabama Birmingham. The members were in their seats and reading for the 7p.m. kickoff. They gator chomped and cheered the whole game as the Gators shut out UAB 39-0. Everyone looked forward to the game and the opportunity to bond over an awesome night and a little singing too!

UF Road Clean Up Service 9/8/11

UF Road Clean Up Service 9/8/11

The Florida Chapter of Alpha Zeta cleaned up our adopted road. The members that participated in the clean-up did not mind taking time out of their schedule to put the trash back where it belongs and off the street. Usually the road clean-ups are on a weekend morning to avoid the heat of the day but our service chair, Jaclyn Irwin, planned an evening clean-up to help add variation to the times of our events. The members met up on campus to carpool over to the road. Planning involves picking up the supplies ahead of time and bringing it to our AZ road. The road clean-up is always a good excuse to get outside and help the community.

On August 28th, the day after Hurricane Irene came through, 13 brothers went out to NC State's Campus Stream Service Project.  The brotherhood usually goes out and cleans up trash around and in the stream to make campus a cleaner place and also to make the stream environment a clean and safe place for fish and wildlife to live. We had a great time cleaning up trash as a brotherhood showing some love to the environment.
